This Privacy Policy explains what personal information I collect through kamalakeel.com, why I collect it, and what rights you have over it. "I," "me," and "my" refer to Kamal Akeel; "you" refers to anyone using this site or my coaching services.

1. Who I Am (Data Controller)

I'm Kamal Akeel, an independent English language coach based in Istanbul, Turkey, and the data controller (veri sorumlusu) responsible for the personal information collected through this site.

2. What Information I Collect

Depending on how you use the site, I may collect:

  • Contact details you provide when booking a session or getting in touch — name, email, phone number.

  • Payment information when you purchase a lesson package, processed through payment providers — e.g. Wix Payments/iyzico/Stripe. I don't store full card details myself.

  • Scheduling information needed to book and manage your sessions, via the booking system.

  • Newsletter sign-up details — your email, if you opt in.

  • Website usage data — collected automatically through cookies and similar technology, such as pages visited and how you arrived at the site.

3. How I Use Your Information

I use your information to:

  • Book, deliver, and manage your coaching sessions.

  • Process payments for lesson packages.

  • Respond to questions and communicate with you about your coaching.

  • Send newsletter updates, if you've opted in (you can unsubscribe anytime).

  • Understand how visitors use the site and measure the performance of any advertising I run.

4. Legal Basis for Processing

Under Turkish data protection law (KVKK), I rely on one or more of the following depending on the situation: your explicit consent (for example, newsletter sign-up or non-essential cookies), the necessity of processing to deliver our coaching agreement, and my legitimate interests in running and improving this practice — balanced against your rights.

5. Cookies & Tracking

This site uses cookies and similar tools for essential site functioning, analytics, and — if I'm running ads — tools like the Meta Pixel to measure and improve ad performance. Some of these are non-essential and require your consent under Turkish guidance on cookies.

6. Who I Share Your Information With

I don't sell your personal information. I share it only with the service providers that help me run this practice — for example, Wix (my website and booking platform), Google (calendar and scheduling), payment processors, and — if I'm running ads — Meta. Each provider processes data under its own privacy terms.

7. International Data Transfers

Some of the providers I use (such as Wix, Google, and Meta) may process data outside Turkey. Where that happens, I rely on the safeguards required under Turkish law — such as an adequacy decision or appropriate contractual protections — for the transfer.

8. How Long I Keep Your Information

I keep your information for as long as needed to provide coaching services, and for a reasonable period afterward for legal, accounting, and record-keeping purposes. Newsletter emails are kept until you unsubscribe.

Under KVKK, you have the right to:

  • Learn whether I'm processing your personal data, and request information about it.

  • Learn the purpose of processing and whether it's being used consistently with that purpose.

  • Know who your data has been shared with, in Turkey or abroad.

  • Request correction of incomplete or inaccurate data.

  • Request deletion or destruction of your data, where the legal conditions allow it.

  • Object to a decision made about you based solely on automated processing.

  • Claim compensation if you're harmed by unlawful processing.

10. Children's Privacy

My services are intended for adults and older students preparing for exams or professional English. I don't knowingly collect personal information from young children without appropriate parental involvement.

I take reasonable technical and organizational steps to protect your information, though no online system can be guaranteed 100% secure.

I may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The version posted here is the one that applies, so it's worth checking back occasionally.
